Building GetHireIn: why we created a career community for graduates

Most graduates aren't short of job listings. They're short of a way to make sense of them.

GetHireIn started from a simple observation: the graduate job search has become an exercise in volume — more listings, more job boards, more places to submit the same CV — without a corresponding increase in the things that actually help someone get hired: honest feedback, a clear sense of direction, and people who can vouch for or guide them.

Why a platform, not just another job board

It would have been simpler to build another job aggregator. But a list of vacancies doesn't address why so many graduates feel stuck — unclear on what to apply for, unsure whether their CV is any good, with no one to ask. GetHireIn combines the job feed with an AI career mentor (Naio) for CV review and interview practice, and a mentor network for the kind of direct, honest conversation that a job listing alone can never provide.

Why universities are a core part of this, not an afterthought

Careers services already do a huge amount with limited resources, usually stretched across far more students than they can meet with individually. Rather than building something for students to use instead of their university's support, GetHireIn is built to sit alongside it — giving careers teams visibility into engagement they didn't have before, while giving students round-the-clock access to support that complements, rather than replaces, their advisers.

Built honestly, on purpose

It would be easy to lean on inflated claims — fake statistics, exaggerated AI capability, invented case studies. We've deliberately avoided that from day one. GetHireIn is genuinely early-stage, built by a solo founder, and everything on this platform is described as accurately as we can manage, including the things we haven't built yet. We'd rather be trusted for being straightforward than impressive for a claim that doesn't hold up.

Where this is heading

The goal isn't to be the biggest graduate platform — it's to be the one that actually closes the gap between finishing education and finding real, well-matched work, through community and honest support rather than volume alone.
